Hello, just downloaded the demo and installed it, but it won't show up, even after rescan, and it's the only vst that I'm missing. Any ideas what's causing this missing vst?

If you're on an M1/ARM mac, the demo does not support ARM/M1 native currently, you could enable Rosetta on your DAW for evaluation, there is a beta for registered users in the Cthulhu forum.

Any clues?

Cthulhu_x64.dll should be in the folder your DAW is set to look for VST2 plugins.

verify for certain Cthulhu_x64.dll is in the VST2 Custom Folder location. Try alt-click on Rescan button.

were you able to make this work? I also have the Cthulhu_x64.dll is in the VST2 Custom Folder location but it doesn't show up on Ableton

Hi, I had the same problem on Windows 11, Ableton Live 11. All my plugins were VST3 up to that point. After creating a VST2 Custom Folder and moving Cthulhu_x64.dll to that folder, it was recognized and worked.

I'm having the same issue and tried all above things. Custom vst 2 folder. alt + click on rescan… I have 2 other vst 2s that I just dropped in that folder and they're showing up. Cthulhu_x64.dll doesn't get recognized. Running Ableton Suite 11 on Win 11.

I'd recommend the version atop the Cthulhu forum which contains a VST3 version.

Hi. I've opened an old project on a Mac M2, and I've run into the same issue ("The VST2 plug-in could not be found"). Don't want to replace it with VST3, as I'll lose my plugin settings!

  1. I've tried running Rosetta mode
  2. In Library → Audio → Plugin-Ins → VST I can see Cthulhu.vst (1.248) - is that the VST2 version?
  3. I've tried copying it to a new "TEMP VST2" folder and pointing Ableton at that as my custome VST2 folder, but it hasn't worked.

Ideas?

Apparently I just needed to turn it off and on again (again)! Fixed.
