cthulu.dll

hey steve, I remember reading about and even seeing some screenshots of this mystical plugin you and mr. Zimmerman had developed. just wondering if it will ever see a public release. or is the world not ready for cthulu's wrath?

Just read on twitter you´re looking for a coffein study.
You could make a study by yourself: Just avoid coffee completely for 2-3 days and if you get a headache you know your body is addicted.

I was kidding, just insinuating I would be a good candidate for such a study ;)
"Just avoid coffee for 2-3 days" would require some form of physical restraint :D
I'm quite sure I'd get such a headache..

I saw this on your facebook Steve.

Cthulhu looks like a great plugin. This will definitely help people with their productions and also help them take step into the realm of theory ;)

Will it work in Maschine? Problem is using midi fx but you can route midi with virtual midi ports, doesn't always work though. I don't know if it has midi routing options but i'm looking for the manual. Cheers!

Unfortunately Maschine lacks full MIDI implementation compared to other host sequencer programs.

Cthulhu AU will work via IAC Bus to send Cthulhu's MIDI to another pad. It isn't the most convenient way to operate as the MIDI goes through the Operating System, but it works.

Cthulhu VST will not be compatible unless NI either adds the ability to route MIDI from one pad to another using VSTMidiEvents, or they add the ability to add their MIDI Out module after the plugin.

Thanks. I'm on Win so loopbe and copperlan should work in the same way? Another way is to put the midi plugin before maschine in a rack in Cantabile and record the midi into Maschine. :) NI are supposed to be working on midi routing anyway.

Is the manual available seperately? Nevermind, found it!

My understanding is Maschine won't currently allow for a "MIDI Out" after Cthulhu, so there will be no way to get the MIDI to your loopback MIDI driver. If and when they allow for that, it would work (in theory, there could be some latency though).

I know that it wouldn't be fully functional like this but, have you tried loading Cthulhu in Maschine1.8, Sound 1, Effect slot 1 of any unused group & routing Another group through it? The reason I ask is that many Maschine users are MPC style, audio slice n dicers. Being able to flesh out chords faster on the fly, w/no extra midi keyboard would be wow. Actually I don't think that'll work cuz Cthulhu wouldn't be recieving MIDI.

You can route midi between tracks and groups but only a few plugins like tonespace work cause you can choose the midi ports from inside the plugin to pass the virtual midi through to the next track. That's why i'm waiting to try it, i might get it just for the chord theory, doesn't have to load in maschine but i use it for the bulk of my stuff so be good to see what ways it can be utlized but if i figure anything out i'll post it. :)
