I was having a problem with my Thinkpad Laptop i5 and Mac "Mavericks" i7 crashing when I upgraded to the latest Ableton Live 9.1.6 64-bit Standard. To resolve this problem I installed Serum 1.02b8 and (Nerve 1121.exe (just to be safe)) from the forums.
My specific issue is that Live would run for about 10 minutes and then just freeze and crash if using Serum and sometimes Nerve, but definitely Serum. After installing the versions mentioned above I didn't have the issue any longer.
I thought I'd share this info in case you are seeing the same issues. It could give you something to try.
