Hi all -
I spent hours today with AI troubleshooting why my serum 2 vst3 does not appear in ableton 12 on my Macbook pro M1 chip. The AU version of Serum 2 works fine, and also I can see and use the original serum vst3, but Serum 2 VST3 does not show.
I deleted serum 2 and did a fresh install, full rescan plugin list in ableton, and a ton of other suggestions via AI in terminal.
Perplexity's final opinion was this -
" DTSDKName in Info.plist shows macosx26.2 , indicating the VST3 was compiled against a beta/unreleased macOS 26 SDK. This causes pluginkit to silently skip registration on macOS 15 (Sequoia). The AU version works fine."
Is this a correct assumption?
Thanks for the help.

No, we do not use prerelease versions of Xcode to build Serum 2.
Furthermore the VST3 and AU versions are built at the same time with the same tools.
- What version of macOS are you using?
- Have you ensured that Live's "Use VST3 Plug-in System Folders" setting is enabled?
- Does Serum 2 VST3 show up in other hosts?

Hi Nick.
I'm on Mac Sequoia 15.7.4 on a macbook pro M1. Ableton Live 12.3.2.
Yes my live use VST3 folder option is enabled, as I can use a handful of my other VST3 plugins.
I only have Ableton Live and Logic Pro for DAW reference. In Logic Pro I can run Serum 2 AU completely fine, and in Ableton 12 I can also run Serum 2 AU completely fine.
This sounds like a problem with Live.

If Serum 2 AU works, then Serum 2 VST3 must be installed and functioning correctly since the AU "wraps" it and would not work otherwise.
I would suggest trying the following:
- Delete Serum2.vst3 from /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3
- Open Live, Rescan Plug-Ins, and quit
- Reinstall Serum 2
- Open Live and rescan plugins, see if Serum 2 now appears.
