Ok let's get real Steve, would you in theory ever be interested in dreaming up your own DAW? :)

dreaming up, sure, I've done that a few times!
Making a DAW is a technical nightmare, it takes a team (or many, many years) and I'm not at all interested in running a large (or investor-funded) company.
I really don't like discussing future plans but I can assure you I have plenty of them!
Serum 2 basically became a DAW itself with the MIX tab and the CLIP patterns. It makes me wish Xfer had a DAW cause Steve seems to do everything the best.
Vibe coding has completely changed the calculation. A single, dedicated developer could code up a basic DAW in half a year.

i Don't think Steve and his talented Team will use AI. Relying on prompts is risky, at least they need verify line by line the generated code to make sure it looks clean to build and test.
For Windows automating tasks with PowerShell is definitely better than this. With Script automation you can preform a multiple operations on multiple files at once.
For example converting 500+ MP3 One-Shot samples to WAV format in order to import as Wavetable for Serum or Serum 2 at once, so you can safe your time.
Xfer DAW would be every difficult part from start to finish.
