Pretty much the title
When I go to add an instance of Serum 2 on my Channel Rack, I receive this message: "You tried to open an effect plugin into a channel. Open the plugin Serum2 in the mixer instead."
Now, I can add it onto a Mixer Channel and even load the core version (and not just the Serum 2 FX), but this now adds the task of some additional routing that shouldn't be necessary in order to create MIDI clips
im having the same issue currently
I had same problem but figured it out using MIDI Out
a temporary fix xD https://youtu.be/q_Qv9E1exkA but it will be probably not necessary soon. Works still :P
And it seems like some ppl can use it with fl studio, no problem. Had to resort to that midi out solution as well. Tried updating daw and reinstalling serum 2. Haven't found a permanent solution yet.
Is it nessesary to have Win 10 or 11 to run this Serum2 vst3.
I am on Reaper 6.8 x64 with win 8.1 x64 and it is not rcognized by Reaper in the vst3 folder.
Reaper does simply nothing.
I have bought Serum1 years ago and the version I have works normal as vst2
yeah but im on win10. having to resort to the midi out solution still and it's souring the experience—making every time i want to use it into a hassle
(can also confirm neither of my friends had this issue, so i wonder what we all have in common?)

we can start by listing off our DAWs, versions and operating systems and then work from there.
FL Studio v24.2.1 \ |
Windows 11 |
I also have this problem. The Midi Out workaround works.
Windows 11.
Tried FL Studio 24.2.1 and 24.2.2 and both have this problem.
I forgot the account details and access to my old email I used to purchase Serum. It was purchased directly from Xfer and I took a picture of the serial code before wiping my laptop. This account is a new one used for downloading the demo to see if it would prompt me to input a serial code and nothing is showing. There's nowhere on the website to put in a serial code either. How can I access Serum again?
Had the same issue that I could only open it on the mixer channel, but what solved the problem for me was re-installing it from Splice.
Hope this helps!
Same problem here, Win 11 , last Fl studio… I wrote in the chat, waiting for an answer. By the way, the plugin opens in Samplitude Pro X
FL Studio v24.2.2 \ Windows 11
No issues with installation and scanning, but I do get this amusing message every time I open a new project:
"1 plugin(s) could not be opened"
And the plugin listed is Serum2
Whether I have loaded it into the project or not, but it works fine when I add it to the rack.
I did try to add Serum 2 FX to a mixer insert but it fails to load, no issues using effects inside the plugin though.
Having the same issue , having to load in the mixer channel .ruins the experience for me so won't be using until the issue is fixed
The support service sent me an email with instructions, it helped me!
FL studio -> options -> plugin manager
enable "Verify Plugins"
rescan.
